Emzingo Receives B Corporation Certification

A_BCorp_logo_POSToday Emzingo is incredibly proud to announce that it has become a Certified B Corporation™. Certified B Corporations are committed to using the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and must meet a set of standards regarding transparency and governance, social and environmental ethics, and accountability. A personal development design firm, Emzingo facilitates transformative experiences through an educational approach that focuses on action learning and social impact via workshops, forums, and immersive experiences in Brazil, Peru, South Africa, Spain, and the United States.

There are more than 1,200 Certified B Corporations from over 120 industries and nearly 50 countries with one unifying goal: to redefine success in business. Emzingo is in good company: Etsy, Patagonia, Ben and Jerry’s, Seventh Generation, and Natura are among the best known B Corporations.

The belief at Emzingo is that business has a higher social purpose, one that goes beyond profit, and the B Corp assessment measures Emzingo’s success against rigorous values and responsible practices as the company continues to grow. Co-founder Drew Bonfiglio summarized this in a recent Net Impact blog post: “Emzingo and the B Corp movement have a clear alignment in terms of values. In addition to the philosophical alignment on how businesses should operate, there were three main drivers for us to join the B Corp community: Accountability to our team and stakeholders; Being part of the movement equals credibility; and to encourage collaboration for mutual success.”

The heart of B Lab, the company behind B Corporations, is its rigorous certification process on social and environmental performance, to which any business can apply. Accepted companies are part of a socially-minded business community, and often collaborate to raise money, share sustainability strategies, and publicize job opportunities. In U.S. states where legislation has passed, B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and the environment in addition to shareholder value.

“At Emzingo, we believe that business leaders should take into consideration people and planet — beyond profit.  Thus, joining the B Corp movement was a no-brainer, because the certification holds companies to a rigorous set of standards that measure a company’s impact on employees, suppliers, community, and the environment,” says Emzingo Partner Pablo Esteves.

For the past five years, the Emzingo team has designed and facilitated personal development programs that provide business leaders with the skillset, capabilities, and mindset needed to succeed in today’s business environment while making a positive social impact.  Every year, hundreds of participants from companies and academic institutions join Emzingo’s innovative and award-winning programs and have, in the process, helped 70+ social organizations in United States, South Africa, Brazil, Peru, and Spain. The Emzingo goal is clear: to develop the next generation of responsible leaders that will solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.
